In 2005 I moved into a studio at 132 Lichfield Street with some other women, we’d just finished an art course at Polytech and I was wondering what to do and I was very interested in the history of the area and I wanted to know what had happened in that building before our art studio because the area was being regenerated. So I decided to do some research on what happened on that piece of land since it had existed… and I knew there’d be some interesting Maori history, and I knew there was a rag trade and fashion in that area, and I was very impressed with the architecture of our building so I wanted to know who designed it...
